Visiting Carmel-by-the-sea has got to be my favorite thing to do in the bay. This time, it was to see the Cala Lilies in bloom at Garrapata State Park. It was sunset, and they were backlit gorgeously.

I tried to move through different layers of abstraction within a single subject. I’m happy that I was able to thread a coherent vision through them all, finding ways to isolate the lily with people milling around.

These still could use some editing to reach their full potential - for now, they are straight-out-of-the-camera JPEGs shot with the Fujifilm X100VI.
